Ranthambore National Park is one of India's most famous wildlife destinations, located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. Covering approximately 392 square kilometers, the park is surrounded by the Kaila Devi Wildlife Sanctuary and Mansingh Sanctuary, together forming the renowned Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Its unique landscape of forests, lakes, rocky hills, and ancient ruins makes it one of the most scenic national parks in the country.
The park is best known for its healthy population of Royal Bengal Tigers and offers one of the highest chances of tiger sightings in India. Visitors from around the world travel to Ranthambore to experience the thrill of seeing these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Along with tigers, the park is home to leopards, sloth bears, striped hyenas, crocodiles, jackals, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, wild boars, langurs, and hundreds of bird species, making it a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
Ranthambore is not only a wildlife sanctuary but also a place of historical significance. The magnificent Ranthambore Fort, standing proudly above the forest, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The area was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and later became one of the first reserves included under Project Tiger in 1973. It was officially designated as a National Park in 1980 and continues to play an important role in India's tiger conservation efforts. Today, Ranthambore is recognized as one of the country's leading protected wildlife reserves.
